The neck lift procedure aims at removing excess skin and fat from the neck area. As people age, the skin on their neck tends to hang or sag. This procedure can be done alone, or accompanied by a facelift.
After an anaesthesia is administered, an incision will be made under your chin, and sometimes behind your ears where the skin will be gently raised.
Your surgeon will then tighten the muscles underlying the soft tissue in the neck and remove any excess skin or fat by liposuction or cutting it out. The skin is resurfaced to the neck and then incisions are closed with dissolving or removable stitches.
It takes approximately two weeks to fully recover from the neck lift operation.
Patients should avoid strenuous activity for about 10 days, but it should be safe to return to work in about 5 days.
You will see the full results in about 3-4 weeks. The results typically last for 5-10 years.
