Liposuction is the most commonly used method for the buttock reduction procedure.
One or two small incisions are made either in the crease of the two cheeks or at the top of the natal cleft (crack). A cannula, a small tube-like instrument, is inserted into the buttocks where fat will be removed and the buttock area will be sculpted into a more flattering shape and size.
Liposuction can only be done to a certain degree. Overdoing it will cause the skin to hang, or it might present an unnatural appearance.
The buttock reduction procedure is often done in conjunction with the thigh lift procedure, buttock lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction in other areas of the body.
Swelling and bruising is to be expected. Walking will be painful for the first couple of days following the surgery.
As long as your job does not require strenuous activity, returning to work within about 3 weeks should be safe.
